While he has achieved immense success in his chosen profession of medicine, driven by a passion for patient care and excellent delivery of healthcare services, he remains concerned about the dire circumstances that many African children face due to a lack of good quality education. Aiming to assist in addressing this gap, The Emmanuel Taban Foundation was established by Dr Taban and his wife Motheo Phalatse-Taban.
Ever since the life story of Dr Taban was documented in his best-selling book “The Boy Who Never Gave Up”, he has inspired many audiences, from corporate groups to schools and universities. His book has been long listed for the Sunday Times Literary Awards 2022 and has sold over 13 000 copies to date. Dr Taban was also listed in London-based publication New African’s “100 Most Influential Africans of 2020” and was also named Daily Maverick’s “African Person of The Year” in 2021. The message of perseverance, of determination and of consistency and passion in everyday effort, resonates with many people from all walks of life.
